Alaskan Artist Michael Chambers

Due to the recent increase in Corona Virus and subsequent social distancing I have decided to have an online art show.

All my work is offered directly so I do not have to deal with increased gallery costs passed on to the customer. Additionally, I do all my own matting and framing so I can offer my finished work at an excellent price.

I believe my art can compete with the majority art selections you will find in any gallery in Alaska.

If you would like to obtain one of my works, you can email me at: chambones@hotmail.com

or call me directly at 907- 268-1345 Please indicate what you are interested in. You can come see these works in person as I am hunkered down in my bunker here in Anchorage practicing social distancing.

This is one of my most accomplished paintings to date. I am beginning to mature in my approach and this painting shows that maturity. It is about time! WE ARE POSITIVE!

Denali Morning

Original oil

12" x 36"

$2,000.00

Framed in wood print 17" x 41"

$300.00

"The Marshes"

Original oil

Framed in wood

print 18" x 22"

$1,500.00

This painting reminds me of the Tony Knowles trail. I am learning to slow down and take my time. It shows in this rendition.

"Mountain Mood"

Original oil

Framed in wood print 18" x 22"

$600.00

"Denali Alpenglow"

Print on metal

 20" x 30"

$300.00

Alaskan landscape painting is filled with various moods. It is inspiring to attempt to capture these moods.

Sometimes simple paintings can be very pleasing to the eye. This was one of my first attempts at wet on wet oil painting.

"Winter Forest"

Original oil

 18" x 22"

$500.00

"Fishing Stream"

Print on metal

 20" x 30"

$400.00

This painting was inspired by one of my daughter Codi's photographs. She is a wonderful photographer with an excellent eye. I was really challenger to make the water look transparent and have the patience to paint the rocks in the foreground. I kept the bushes on the left simplistic just to remind the viewer that this is indeed a painting. I love fly fishing. I feel like walking into this painting with my pole...

I have loved and studied Sydney Laurence's body of paintings for years. This painting was inspired by one of his own.

"A light night"

tribute to Sydney Laurence

Original acrylic on watercolor paper

Matted and framed in wood

 28" x 34"

$1,000.00

"Mother's Mountain"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

This painting is called "Mother's Mountain" for a reason. My mother always wanted a cabin up on that prominent bluff. When she passed away, myself, my daughter and a close friend took her ashes up and scattered them at the end of that bench. There is a small yellow green spot in the painting which marks the spot. This is the Rainbow Mountain Complex 50 miles south of Delta Junction on the Richardson Hwy.

"Down Turnagain"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

Coming down Turnagain on my way back to Anchorage the uplifting storm bathed the view in purples and yellows which are opposite colors. I just love the dramatics of this painting for the color selection. There definitely is emotions wrapped up in pigments in the way they are presented.

"Changing Light"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

My daughter Codi went hiking and took the picture which inspired this painting. I just love the changing light here in Alaska. And, the outwash plains are fantastic in their own right. This was a fun painting to execute.

"Early Morning Denali"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

No matter how many times I paint the Alaska Range, I never tire of the view. This is one of my first attempts at oil painting. I offer this both as an original for sale and in print format framed and ready for your wall.

"Paxson Lake Fog"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

There are only two types of Black and White images...Ones that are average and a few that are fantastic! This is my favorite black and white painting. It is reminiscent of late August when the morning fog lies on the lakes due to the difference in air and water temperature.

"Lights Fantastic"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

Original available $1,200.00

There are no words which can describe the feeling one gets watching the northern lights. This painting is inspired by my years in Paxson. The lights seem to be very close and comfortable there.

"Northface Denali"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

This is definitely one of the most iconic paintings I have ever done of Mt. Denali. This is the Northface known as the Wickersham Wall. What I love about this painting is this is the only painting I have executed where you can detect the curvature of the earth! Puts things in perspective!

"Portage Valley"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

Many years ago when my mother brought me to Alaska, during our initial tour of Alaska, we drove by the portage valley and I fell in love with the scene. The dead spruce here are a testimony to the 1964 earthquake which flooded this land with salt water and killed the trees. O have always loved this contrast. While I was taking the photos which inspired this painting, the terns attempted to peck my brains out. Too close to their nests!

"Whalers in Point Hope"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

My dear friend Rachael Koonuk from Point Hope inspired me to paint this painting. Her father was a whale boat captain for years. I did this painting in honor of him. Although I don't make a habit of painting people, at times they show up in my work. If you look closely, you can see where the crew pees behind the wind break they have erected. Remember, never eat yellow snow!

"Quigley Ridge Sunset"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

My good friend Ray Kreig owns this exact property. It is the first ridge outside Denali Park boundaries to the north by Kantishna. Ray gifted me with a permit to visit his property so I selected the perfect weather. When I got to the base of his property in early evening, I decided to climb the ridge for my first view of "The Great One." This is the view which met my eye. I was totally inspired. This painting is executed with Byron Birdsall in mind. You can see the way I executed the evening sky reminiscent of his work.

"On The Kenai"

aluminum print

 30" x 20"

$300.00

I just love the reflections we get here in Alaska. My good friend Amy Demboski owns the original. I have reproduced this on brushed aluminum and have hand painted the reflection with a gloss coat, just like the original. This is an aluminum print which will be certain to capture your eye in any room.

"Round Tangle Lakes"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

When I moved to Alaska in 1975, Paxson, Alaska was my first home. This is a painting of Round Tangle Lakes which is 20 miles west of Paxson on the Denali Highway. This is one of my favorite scenes in Alaska. Extremely quiet and peaceful.

"Red Denali"

print

Matted and framed in wood

 17" x 41"

$300.00

One of my all time favorite painting I have completed

of the Alaska Range. This shows the majesty of Denali,

Mt. Hunter and Mt. Foracker in an alpen glow event.

"Stanley Lake, Idaho"

original acrylic on watercolor paper

Matted and framed in wood

 22" x 28"

$1,200.00

Recently, I traveled back to my

birth state Idaho for my 50th year

class reunion. The journey took me

through the the area of the Sawtooth

Mountains and Stanley Lake. I took

a quick detour to capture some photos

of this magnificent vista to capture

some pictures. This painting is a result

of my impression of that area.
